Max Beckmann was a figurative painter, he is known for his self-portraits painted throughout his life. He greatly admired Cézanne, but also Van Gogh, Blake, Rembrandt, Rubens and Northern European artists of the late Middle Ages and early Renaissance. I responded to Max's art work in a questionable way ..I didn't really care for the background information on what each picture represented I just like the way each one of his pictures look and the style of his art.
